This is the photo album of Joana and Rui at Santa Maria da Feira, a home made backyard wedding. After wedding in Lisbon in a private civil ceremony, the couple gathered family and friends at the bride’s parents house. A barbecue lunch, followed by signature cocktails from Com Amor e Rum, and cake design by Mil Mil Cores e Sabores.
This was indeed a colourful wedding. Guests wrote theirs wishes for the couple and hagged it around the yard’s fence. The close friends and siblings surprised the couple with a review from their childhood and friendship years. They even made a magazine for the bride!
It couldn’t have been more fun than to have an air castle to play, both children and adults enjoyed it.

My couples tend to do themselves a lot of things regarding the wedding. From invitations, to decorations, bouquets, centre pieces, graphic design or even wedding dresses., I love when there is such a care. This makes the whole celebration so much personal and tailored to the couple’s personality. Therefore, taking the step to do your own decorations can be overwhelming and it will take time, but with the right team of helpers it can turn into a lot of fun!
Sometimes the simpler the better. In another small city hall wedding the friend’s couple surprised them after the ceremony. There are endless options! Surf the web, read blogs, and try out some ideias before deciding to do it yourself.
